1987 Yamaha FS1-E "Fizzy" Recreation; sympathetically backdated to
capture the iconic look of the original FS1-E; odometer displays just 250 miles,
which is believed to represent the mileage covered since the 2011 restoration,
although this cannot be warranted; served as a display piece rather than regular
transport, spending time as an ornament in the front rooms of its last two
owners.
First registered in September 1987, this eye-catching
Yamaha FS1-E "Fizzy" recreation has been cleverly transformed to replicate the
appearance of the highly sought-after early 1970s models.
Finished in its
current period-inspired colour scheme, the bike is understood to have undergone
a comprehensive restoration in 2011, during which it was repainted from its
original yellow finish and sympathetically backdated to capture the iconic look
of the original FS1-E. Powered by the familiar 49cc two-stroke engine, the
Yamaha has had 14 former keepers and has been in the current ownership since
January 2019. The registration ACW 300R is included in the sale and remains with
the motorcycle.
Interestingly, for much of the last 15 years, the bike
has served as a display piece rather than regular transport, spending time as an
ornament in the front rooms of its last two owners. The odometer currently
displays just 250 miles, which is believed to represent the mileage covered
since the 2011 restoration, although this cannot be warranted.
The vendor
advises that the Yamaha was started earlier this year but has not been run
since, and prospective purchasers should therefore expect to carry out a degree
of light recommissioning before returning it to regular use. With values
of original FS1-Es continuing to climb, high-quality recreations such as this
have become an increasingly popular and affordable way to enjoy one of Britain's
most recognisable mopeds.
Equally at home as a nostalgic display piece or
for use at classic motorcycle shows and events, this attractive Fizzy recreation
is sure to appeal to enthusiasts of 1970s motorcycling.
