Showing just 50,636 miles; smooth and
charismatic 5.3-litre V12 engine; remarkably original Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12
2+2; supplied with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate
Finished in Signal Red with a black
leather interior, this remarkably original Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 2+2 is
showing just 50,636 miles and has had only three previous keepers from new.
Having spent much of its life carefully dry stored, it is a wonderfully
preserved example.
Launched in 1971, the Series 3 represented the
final evolution of Jaguar's legendary E-Type. Powered by the smooth and
charismatic 5.3-litre V12 engine, it combined effortless performance with
refined long-distance touring capability. The 2+2 Coupe, with its longer
wheelbase and increased cabin space, offered enhanced practicality while
retaining the unmistakable styling that made the E-Type one of the most admired
sports cars ever produced.
First registered in 1972, this example remained
with its original owner for over four decades before passing to its second
keeper in 2014. To keep the car's originality and condition, the owner chose to
preserve rather than use it extensively, keeping it in dry storage and
protecting it from the elements. In early 2026, the current vendor gently
recommissioned the Jaguar and brought it back to life, taking care to retain as
much originality as possible. The result is a car that presents as a genuine
survivor rather than a restored example.
Remarkably original throughout, this E-Type
appears to have escaped much of the deterioration that so often affects British
classics of this era. The bodywork, interior trim and overall presentation
suggest a car that has led a sheltered existence, preserved rather than
repeatedly repaired or restored. Its honesty and authenticity are immediately
apparent and increasingly difficult to find in today's
market.
The
recommissioning work undertaken includes a thorough service, together with the
fitting of new brake and clutch master cylinders and various braking system
components. The car now starts readily on the button and runs well, providing an
excellent basis for further use and enjoyment.
One particularly noteworthy feature is that the
Jaguar still sits on what are understood to be its original tyres from the 70s,
an indication of just how little use it has seen over the years. While
fascinating from a preservation standpoint, prospective purchasers intending to
use the car in earnest should budget for a new set of quality period-correct
tyres before undertaking any significant road mileage.
Adding further to its appeal, the
Jaguar is supplied with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, providing valuable
confirmation of its factory build details and original specification, further
underpinning the car's provenance and authenticity.
Paperwork includes: V5C registration
document, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, service and recommissioning
invoices.
A rare
chance to purchase an unusually original, low-mileage Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12
2+2, with just two owners from new, presented in one of the model's most iconic
colour combinations. Equally suitable for sympathetic preservation, careful
recommissioning or enjoyable touring, this is a highly appealing example of
Jaguar's final and most refined E-Type.
