Few vehicles better represent the rugged, go-anywhere spirit
of 1980s motoring than the Mitsubishi Pajero. Renowned for its toughness both on
and off-road, the Pajero established Mitsubishi as a serious player in the 4x4
market and remains a popular choice among enthusiasts looking for a capable and
characterful classic off-roader.
Originally manufactured in 1989 and
subsequently imported into the UK, this Pajero is powered by the dependable
2,477cc turbo diesel engine coupled to a manual gearbox. The odometer currently
displays 130,669 kilometres and the vehicle is offered with a V5C and three
previous MOT certificates.
As the photographs clearly demonstrate, this
Pajero should be regarded as a project vehicle, albeit one where a significant
amount of important work has already been completed. The chassis has received
extensive attention away from the body, with refurbishment work carried out,
polybushes fitted and protective treatments applied to help preserve it for the
future.
The vendor advises that both the sills and wings have already
been repaired or replaced as required, although the rear wheel arches still
require attention. The vehicle also requires reassembly, presenting an
opportunity for the next owner to complete the project to their own preferred
standard.
Mechanically, we are informed that the engine runs, although
prospective purchasers should note that there is currently no ignition key
supplied and the vehicle is currently started using a screwdriver. As with any
unfinished restoration project, interested parties are encouraged to satisfy
themselves as to the extent of the remaining work required.
Increasingly
sought after as classic Japanese 4x4s gain recognition among collectors and
enthusiasts, this Pajero offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to
complete a worthwhile project. With much of the structural work already
undertaken and a refurbished chassis beneath it, the foundations appear to be in
place for the next custodian to return this capable off-roader to the
road.
