The Wolseley Hornet Special is
a charming pre-war sports tourer, admired for its lively performance,
lightweight construction and elegant styling. This particular example is
believed to feature a Swallow-bodied tourer body, produced by the Swallow
Sidecar Company, the firm that would later evolve into Jaguar, making it an
especially intriguing proposition.
First registered in July 1932,
this Hornet Special is powered by a 1,631cc engine and is finished in an
attractive off-white cream, having originally left the factory in grey/green.
The V5C records two former keepers, while the accompanying buff log book
suggests a total ownership of around five keepers. The current vendor has owned
the car since August 2018.
The interior has been
sympathetically re-trimmed and the car benefits from a new hood, complete with
side screens. Accompanying the sale are the original buff log book, nine
previous MOT certificates, the owner's handbook and a period sales
brochure.

started, ran and drove as you would expect.
A rare and
characterful pre-war tourer with what appears to be an early Swallow body, this
delightful Hornet Special offers a fascinating link to the origins of Jaguar and
would make a wonderful addition to any collection or vintage motoring
event.
