vintage motoring quite like the Austin Seven Chummy. Often credited with putting
Britain on wheels, the Austin Seven became one of the most significant small
cars ever produced, combining affordability, dependability and a cheerful
character that continues to win admirers almost a century
later.
Manufactured in 1927, this particularly handsome Chummy benefits
from a number of thoughtful upgrades and improvements that enhance its usability
while remaining sympathetic to its vintage character. Imported from New Zealand
by a previous owner, the accompanying documentation includes the original New
Zealand registration paperwork which helps support the car's interesting history
before arriving in the UK.
Power comes from the Austin's delightful
four-cylinder engine, featuring a Zenith updraught carburettor and magneto
ignition. Recent work has included the fitment of new clutch springs and
friction plates, while the original low-compression cylinder head has been
installed to ensure compliance with the VSCC Class 1 Standard category, making
the car particularly appealing for Vintage Sports-Car Club events and
activities.
Benefiting from a 12-volt electrical system and fitted with
indicators, the Chummy offers a degree of practicality often absent from many
vintage cars. LED headlamps have also been fitted to improve visibility, while a
tonneau cover is included for added convenience and protection when
touring.
Further recent expenditure includes a new radiator core and fan,
