87,046 miles; MOT until October 2026; driven to the sale over 200
miles; three former keepers
This
handsome example of the increasingly sought-after Peugeot 406 Coupé is a design
icon of its era, penned by Pininfarina and still widely admired for its elegant
proportions and understated presence. First registered in May 2002, this SE
model is finished in metallic grey with a black leather interior, a timeless
combination that suits the car’s grand touring character.
Under the
bonnet sits the 1,997cc petrol engine paired with a 4-speed automatic
transmission, delivering smooth, relaxed progress in keeping with its refined
nature. The car shows 87,046 miles and has had three former keepers, remaining
in its current ownership since April 2018. It comes with a substantial history
file, including 19 previous MOT certificates, a selection of invoices
documenting maintenance over the years, and 15 service stamps, the last recorded
in 2017.
Generally, at each MOT, the car has also been checked over by
the owner’s mechanic, providing additional reassurance regarding its ongoing
usability.
On the road, the car presents as a solid and usable modern
classic. It was driven over 200 miles to site and is reported to start, drive,
and stop as expected, offering confidence to prospective buyers.
There
are, however, a few known points to be aware of. The heater fan does not switch
off, the remote “plip” central locking has recently stopped working, which may
potentially be related to a battery or electrical issue although it has not been
diagnosed, and the brake discs will require replacement in the near future, as
already highlighted on the most recent MOT.
The MOT remains valid until
October 2026, providing further reassurance for immediate
use.
Cosmetically, the car shows age-related marks to the bodywork,
consistent with its age and mileage, but nothing that significantly detracts
from its overall appeal. The interior, trimmed in black leather, remains
comfortable and well-presented, reinforcing the model’s reputation as a refined
long-distance cruiser.
With values of well-preserved examples continuing
to rise, the Peugeot 406 Coupé represents an accessible entry into modern
classic ownership, combining distinctive styling, everyday usability, and a
touch of Italian design pedigree. This example, with its documented history,
long MOT, and honest condition, offers an appealing opportunity for enthusiasts
and collectors alike.
