Part of a considerable private collection; deceased estate; presented
in Sage Green; restoration work carried out in 2022 by Bridge Classic Cars;
showing 67,235 miles
The Bentley T1 formed part of
a new generation of Bentley motor cars introduced during the mid-1960s, bringing
with it a more modern design and significantly updated engineering. Featuring
monocoque construction, advanced suspension, and power-assisted controls, the
model delivered the effortless performance and refinement expected of the
marque.
The final addition to the private
collection offered in this sale by some margin, this Bentley T1 was purchased in
late 2024, suggesting it was a particularly appealing example that caught the
eye of our collector. As with the other vehicles from this deceased estate, the
car has seen little use over the past 18 months, but it has nevertheless been
starting readily and driving on-site during photographs and videos, with no
obvious issues to report.
The accompanying
history would suggest this to be the only car in the collection to have
benefited from a full body restoration, with the car now presenting in very
smart condition. Completed in 2022 by the well-respected Bridge Classic Cars,
the Bentley underwent a full body strip-down, with any necessary repairs carried
out prior to the application of epoxy primer and a repaint in its original Sage
Green. The work is understood to have cost in excess of £11,000, with invoices
and photographic records on file.
The green theme
continues throughout the interior, with the matching and originally specified
green leather upholstery complemented by green carpets and headlining, all of
which present in very good order with no obvious rips or tears noted, offering
the level of comfort and luxury expected of a Bentley. The interior wood veneer
also appears in fair condition overall, showing only minimal cracking to the
lacquer on the centre console, which does little to detract from the cabin’s
overall appearance.
A large quantity of invoices
is also present, including many from well-known Rolls-Royce and Bentley parts
supplier Flying Spares, covering items such as ignition and braking components
and suggesting consistent maintenance. The history file also indicates that the
car is understood to have benefited from a brake overhaul in 2022 by respected
Woodbridge Classic Cars, along with numerous services and general upkeep carried
out by Bentley specialists Goldhurst Service Station, with records dating back
to the early 1990s.
Showing just 67,235 miles,
which unfortunately cannot be warranted, this attractive T1 nevertheless
presents in very smart order and it is easy to see why it caught our collector’s
eye. With much of the more costly and time-consuming work seemingly already
carried out, it represents an appealing opportunity to acquire a well-presented
example in a striking specification, ready to use and enjoy, particularly at the
keen estimate published here.
