One previous keeper; showing only 50,610
miles; dry stored patiently waiting on a new custodian to bring it gently back
into the world.
The Series 3 E-Type, launched in 1971, marked the
final evolution of Jaguar’s most celebrated sports car.
Powered by the smooth and charismatic 5.3-litre V12, the S3 offered effortless
performance, long-legged touring ability and a more
refined driving experience than its predecessors. The 2+2 Coupe, with its longer
wheelbase and improved cabin space, became the grand-touring choice of the range,
combining the E-Type’s unmistakable silhouette with
genuine usability.
This example was first registered in 1972,
finished in Carmen red with a black leather interior and is now showing only
50,610 miles. Remarkably, it remained with its original owner until the vendor
acquired it in 2014. Since then, it has been lovingly dry-stored, frozen in
time rather than used, and now awaits a new custodian to bring it gently
back into the world.
A wholly original car, it appears to have
escaped the usual half-century of British weather, road
salt and wear. The bodywork, trim and general presentation suggest a car that
has lived a sheltered life, untouched by the typical deterioration that so often
afflict E-Types of this
age.
The vendor
purchased the car in 2014 from its first and only long-term keeper, intending to preserve
it carefully. After more than a decade in dry storage, the difficult decision
has now been made to pass the car on to someone who will give it a fresh lease
of life.
Starting and recommissioning work will
naturally be expected after its period of inactivity, but the underlying
originality and long-term preservation make this a
particularly appealing basis for sympathetic revival.
A rare opportunity to acquire an
unusually original, low-mileage Series 3 V12 2+2 that has
spent much of its life sheltered from the elements. Ideal for careful
recommissioning and enjoyment, or as a wonderfully preserved example of
Jaguar’s final-generation E-Type.
The vendor is currently awaiting the
replacement V5C.
