From a deceased estate; body-off restoration in the early 1990s and
only 5k miles since; £6,300 recently spent on new parts and servicing; lots of
history; transferable number; lots to like about this one
First registered in
Northamptonshire in April 1937, this super little Ruby was treated to a body-off
restoration in the early 1990s and has covered around 5,000 miles since in the
hands of three owners, the second of whom kept it for 15 years (2008 – 2023) as
part of a collection of Vintage cars. There are many invoices to show regular
upkeep since the restoration was completed in 1993.
The current owner
acquired the Ruby from Shore Classics of Weymouth in September 2023, the invoice
showing that it cost £7,185. He promptly sent it to Glyn Edwards of Llandysul
with instructions to go right through the car and attend to any faults.
This ultimately cost a further £6,300 and included: full service and
tune-up; carb rebuilt; full brake system overhaul; new water pump; wheel
bearings; two new tyres; new rear screen rubber; work to the steering,
suspension and electrics plus much else besides.
Sadly the owner
then passed away before getting much chance to enjoy the car, so it is on offer
here from a deceased estate at a very enticing guide
price.
As you can see in the photos,
this Ruby appears to be in very good shape following all the work so
recently carried out, with a nicely mellowed red leather interior and
a reassuringly clean and solid underside.
Supplied with a good file of
invoices, it also comes with 16 old MOTs, period AA and RAC badges, copy 1936
Autocar road test, lubrication chart and a copy of Original
Austin Seven by Rinsey Mills. The icing on the cake is the original
(transferable) Northants-issue number plate, NV 9240.
