AMENDMENT; Fun two-stroke microcar; for light recommissioning after a
period in storage; most appealing
Amendment. Bidders are advised that the
Berkeley was in running order when it was purchased through Brightwells in 2019.
However, since then it has been dry-stored in a garage, not having moved at all
since Covid lockdown and therefore requires recommissioning.
Designed by Lawrie Bond and built by a specialist caravan company,
the Berkeley SA322 is chain driven to the front wheels by a 322cc Anzani twin-
cylinder two-stroke engine, developing a heady 15bhp.
This is chassis number 0010 and is the oldest complete
Berkeley in the world, having been first registered in September 1959. It is one
of around 4,500 vehicles produced by Berkerley, this particular example
differing from other production models in having a Smiths speedo
and three-speed gearbox with column change.
It was fully restored in the 1990s and was purchased from
Brightwells in 2019. The bodywork is presentable considering its paintwork is
now 30 years old, however it does show some signs of stress here and there. The
interior presents well and it comes with a full tonneau to keep it
protected.
In short a great, fun little project
for someone to take on to get this cool little car back to its former glory and
on offer at No Reserve so the best bid on the day takes it
home...
