Supplied new in November 1999 this very
late model BMW 840CI was sold by Park West BMW, London (built May 1999) and is
believed to be the last sold in the UK and the 30th from final
production car ever (verified) with production ending in May
1999.
A desirable 840CI 4.4 Sport Individual,
this car features a bespoke, Individual spec and is finished in
delightful Tannen Green and sits upon its original (and refurbished) 17”
‘Throwing star’ three-piece alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the powerful 4.4 litre M62 B44 V8 petrol
engine which develops 282Bhp and 420NM of torque driving the rear wheels via
five-speed automatic/tiptronic transmission.
This example is particularly well optioned in addition to being a
Sport Individual model, the spec includes M-Sports package (0337), M
Aerodynamics package (0715), M-Sport suspension (0704), desirable Nurburgring
suspension package (0782), hydro-steering servotronic (0216), electrically
adjustable steering column (0245) passenger airbag (0243), electric sunroof
(0401), electric rear sunblind (0416), Sports seats (0481), cruise control
(0540), automatic air flow control (0528), auto dim interior mirror (0431), 6 CD
changer (0672), HiFi speaker system (0676), M-Sport multi-function steering
wheel (0710), anthracite headlining (0775).
In
addition to the above optional extras the standard spec includes electric seat
adjustment plus memory, electric windows, electric mirrors, pop-up head lights,
front fog lights, traction control, heated rear window, dual zone climate
control with AC, on-board computer, BMW Business radio/cassette player, rear
electric sun blind, ski tube between rear seats, fold down rear seat backs
etc.
The interior trim of this example is
finished in tan leather piped dark green with anthracite suede headlining which
we understand have been refurbished including fitment of a new suede headlining
and completely retrimmed front seats matched to a leather sample from the
originals. As a result, the
interior looks very fresh and comfortable, the colour contrast looking very
special indeed. In the boot, we find the original spare, tool kit, original
first aid box, ski tube and the rear B-pillar trims which need to be
fitted.
The car has resided with its long-term
owner on the Isle of Wight since he took ownership in May 2015 from the second
owner, a famous international Golf Pro who owned the car from January 2000 when
it had covered just 1,250 miles to 2015 at c.96,000 miles.
During the current
owner's tenure, we understand he sensitively restored the car but didn’t
use it, the last MOT until its most recent being in June 2014 at 95,472
miles. The car currently shows just
96,150 and has covered just c.90 miles since its MOT with some gentle runs by
the workshop that MOT’d it, serviced it and did a few small jobs required for
the MOT following its time off the road.
Recent
works include replacement PSV valve, a service, a replacement coil spring,
washer pump and replacement rear tyres which are documented. Unfortunately, much of the works
undertaken in the IoW have gone undocumented (although we have some lists of
parts from Snows BMW, IoW) including replacement rear windscreen, but the car
and its condition speak for itself.
The history
file includes the V5C confirming just two former keepers, the owner’s pack,
Certificate of Preparation by Park Lane Limited BMW, London stamped January
2000, Radio code card, Tracker information, BMW approved used car mileage check
21st January 2000 at 1,250 miles, Warranty booklet, stamped dealer warranty and
emergency service handbook, spec print-out from Sytner BMW, two keys, a few
bills, lists of parts from Snows BMW for the restoration and the current MOT
valid until February 2024 with five minor advisories (both rear tyres have since
been changed).
