1999 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph

Lots of history; 15 stamps over 90,000 miles; fabulous spec; private plate included; V12 refinement

The gestation period for the Silver Seraph took nine years, the engineers at Rolls-Royce taking their time replacing the highly traditional Silver Spirit which could trace its roots back to the 1965 Shadow I.

Finally unvelied at the Geneva show in 1998, it cost £155,000 in base form and used BMWs sublime M73 5.4-litre V12 engine to good effect. It was very well recieved and sat alonside its Bentley sibling on the form of the twin-turbo V8 Arnage.

This example was supplied new through Broughtons of Birmingham in May 1999 and was ordered in Deep Aqua livery. It has had 11 previous keepers, who have kept on top of its care and maintenance with a total of 15 service stamps at the following dates and mileages.

Broughtons saw the car for service five times, at 9,910 miles in June 2000, 19,798 in December 2000, 29,980 miles in June 2001, 36,074 miles in June 2002 and 39,502 miles in June 2003. Care turned to various Rolls-Royce specialists, Hanwell Car Centre giving it attention at 50,544 miles in May 2004, Hillier Hill at 56,278 miles in 2004 and back to Hanwell for the next two services at 60,667 in June 2005 and 62,834 miles in December 2005.

The car then moved north and James Seymour serviced it at 63,646 miles in January 2008 which takes us to the continuation Service book where they saw it again in December 2009 by which time it had covered 76,871 miles. Prestige Services serviced it in August 2012 at 81,172 miles and again in August 2017 at 84,934 miles. Finally attention turned to Prasads Automotive Bentley and Rolls-Royce specialists in London for its 86,632 miles service in August 2019, again in August 2020 at 89,336 miles and its most recent service in August 2021 at 90,519.

There are receipts and old MOTs on file which support this history, which shows the bulk of its mileage was covered during the first few years.

Its most recent (no advisory) MOT expired at the end of July this year, so it will need a fresh test before use once more. It retains its original leather-bound handbook and owner's pack including the aforementioned Service books.

This car is most impressive with a huge spec, including a wood trim steeringwheel, heated ecectric front and rear seats and CD remotes and of course lashings of top quality leather and walnut trim....it is a Rolls-Royce after all.
