1978 MG Midget 1500

Showing 57,000 miles; recently prepared for auction; running and driving

First registered in February 1978, this Midget has been with our vendor since 2012, having been with nine other registered keepers over the years.

It was purchased by our vendor as barely running project, although the body, underside and interior were all perfectly respectable. As it turned out, the only reason it wasn’t running was a leaking fuel pipe and slightly misbehaving fuel pump.

The aim was to smarten it up and get it on the road as a fun car for him to use. The fuel issue was sorted pretty quickly and it was resprayed the colour you see today. Unfortunately, due to ill health, work on the MG was suspended and the car was slipped into dry storage, from which it has only just left. As our vendors health has deteriorated over the years, time has come to reduce the number of cars in his collection.

To prepare for the auction, new carpets have been fitted along with smart new wheels. Points and condenser have been replaced and although the distributor has not, there is a new one in the boot.

Running and driving, the hood looks in good shape and looks like a respectable car to use and improve, looking nice and original underneath too.
